PROGRAM EXPIRES 10/1/2023. We will provide updates to the program later this year.
The program totals 5 CEUs and is broken into three different courses:
Block Complications teaches you how to recognize signs, symptoms, and treatment for complications that arise in ophthalmic anesthesia a retrobulbar hemorrhage; recognize and treat CNS sequelae resulting in respiratory arrest and seizure; and describe globe perforations and techniques to minimize their occurrence.
Managing the Awake Patient teaches you how to implement smart practices into your group and individual practice to avoid issues with patients pre, during, and post-surgery. We teach you how to help manage the stress and anxiety of the patient; provide practical problem-solving tips for issues that arise in real-time; discuss the importance of “single patient use” and the importance of provider privileges and credentialing.
Risk Management and Quality Assurance reviews the overall risks involved in providing anesthesia services in an ophthalmic surgery center including reviewing adverse events and how to minimize them, potential violence in the facility, application for privileges, and compliance with pertinent laws and professional standards. Additionally, the course demonstrates how clinical data can be used to validate the quality of patient care.
